Ky. video-gaming bill dies in Senate committee - South Florida Business Journal:

The Senate Appropriations Revenue Committee, on Monday evening, votefd 10-5 against the measure, with two memberss abstaining, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader. The House had previously passethe bill. The legislation would have permitted video-lottery terminal at Kentucky horse tracks, including Turfway Park in "The limited gaming proposal was designesd to help save a signature industry in peril an industry thatmeans 100,0090 jobs and $4 billion in investmenty for our state," said Gov. Steve Besheae in a Monday eveningh statement. "It is unfortunate that every voice on this critically importangt issue was not heard and everyh votenot counted.
" At a Frankfort presds conference, Turfway Park Presidenty Bob Elliston said Turfwayh could close by 2010 if Ohio passex gaming legislation and Kentucky does not. Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland recentlyg reversed his stance against gamblingat racetracks.
