The Bethesda-based developer's 26-acre office park in the Shadyu Grove Life Sciences Center is currently approvedfor 669,538 squarer feet of density and the campuw currently contains half of that, or 350,000 square feet. At a May 28 work the Montgomery County Planning Board decided to recommend in its draf Gaithersburg West Master Plan that the property be developed with up to twice asmuch density, or contaimn up to 1.
34 million square feet of office, retail and residential The southwest corner of the land currentlh includes a 272,000-square-foot, three-building complex that housesd software and pharmaceutical The north side of the propert contains the Metropolitan Regional Informational Services'' 72,000-square-foot headquarters. Last week, the board also recommendedx that Danac's Corridor Cities Transitway stop be locatedf at or near its northeastern near the intersection of Diamondbackj Drive andDecoverly Drive. That is good news for since the board had left out the stop inearlied drafts.
The transit stop near the corner may be developed whether the state retains the current road alignmenyt or adoptsthe county's locally preferred alternative. The board also picked that location because the northeasterjn corner is considered to be convenient for pedestrians from the Decoverlhresidential communities. "We have a long way to go, but we are encouragesd by theplanning board's recommendations," said Timothy Dugan, a Danaf attorney.
Several more work sessions are scheduled over the next two and in July the planningf board will send its drafy master plan to the county executive who will have 60 days to revie w and comment before it is sent to the countyu councilfor deliberations.
