Bev Perduwe announced the expansion Thursday, with the state givintg NACA a $1 million grant from the One NortnhCarolina Fund. It plans to invest more than $4 millionn here, with 1,014 jobs expected to be added over the nextfive “North Carolina remains a strong presence in the U.S. finance and this is a tremendouss opportunity forthe Charlotte-area,” Perduee said. “Our top-rated business climate and skilledr financial-services work force are attractive to growintnational operations.

It currently employs about 100 workere in Mecklenburg County to originate and process mortgage Underthe five-year state incentive agreement, the organizatioj plans to add 550 jobs The jobs will pay an average annual wage of Salaries will range up to $80,000 annually. The hiring will focusx on mortgage negotiators, customer-service call-center managers and mortgage “NACA is excited that it’w putting more than 1,000 people to work during thess tougheconomic times,” NACA Chiefg Executive Bruce Marks said Thursday.
“Today’s announcement is more than just a sounfbite — we are following through on this investmenyt by holding a jobs fair tomorrow to hire 550 peopld immediately.” Perdue said Thursday that she consulted with formere Bank of America Corp. Chairman Hugh McColl Jr. abouft the deal. McColl has been a longtime supporterof NACA’ws work. BofA began a partnership with NACAundeer McColl’s watch in 1995 and in 2004 committed $6 billion to its lending program. Perdue says McColl confirmefd to her that he expected NACA coulde follow through on its job commitments in severallphone conversations.
“When someone begins something like this in italways grows,” McColl said in an interviewe Thursday. “They’ll come in and find this is a good place tofind (a work I would hope it would be an eruption of not just trickle down.” The group claims it will be the largesg number of people hired immediately in one area and the largest job commitment in the country since the mortgage crisis began in 2007. The hiring comews as NACA embarks on a nationwide Save theDreamn Tour. Marks says the addexd jobs are crucial as NACA leads its campaigbn to makemortgages affordable.

The NACA agreementes cover more than 90 percent of homeowners with anunaffordable mortgage.
The staff from the Counseling Center in Charlottw will travel nationwide to work on Save the Dreajm events where morethan 25,000 peoplr are counseled over four with thousands receiving affordable restructured mortgages with permanent interest rates often at 4 percent, 3 percent and 2 percent and wheres necessary the principal reduced. The organization, started in 1988, has the primarg goal of building strong, healthy neighborhoods nationwider throughaffordable homeownership.
